Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals
Program Overview
Jiangsu International Forum for School Principals in hosted by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and facilitated by JESIE. It receives financial support from the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Finance. By cooperating with the education network throughout the Province, overseas departments of education and key foreign principals’ organizations, the Forum invites secondary and primary school principals form Jiangsu and overseas schools to participate in themed activities. These include school visits, keynote presentations, expert lectures academic seminars and cultural visits. The principals discuss in-depth on hot topics and significant issues with their peers. Themes are closely related to the reform and development of basic education. The forum aims at promoting cooperation between Jiangsu and overseas schools through students and teachers exchanges, scientific research and sister school partnerships. Since 2011, the forum has adopted the model of ‘even number years held in Jiangsu, odd numbered years held abroad’.
In November, 2016, the 12th Jiangsu international Forum for School Principals was held in Taizhou, China. 109 international attendees from 12 countries joined in the Forum. The key focus of the Forum was “Education Reforms Targeting Key Competencies”. Through the themed discussions, panel discussions and school visits, principals from primary and middle schools discussed thoroughly about the educational cooperation and communication between Chinese and foreign schools, which promoted student exchange, teachers’ exchange, scientific research on teaching and so on. During the forum, 77 pairs of Chinese and foreign primary and secondary schools established sister schools partnerships.
Program Participation
Every year, JPDE releases the theme and scope of the forum, and local education bureaus can inform, recommend and organize school principals to attend the forum in accordance with the official documents issued by JPDE.
