Hello, my name is Adam. My hometown is Manchester in England, but I have recently moved to Wuxi in China to teach English. Before I moved to China I worked in local government, helping councilors, residents and architects solve a wide variety of problems ranging from dangerous derelict properties and air pollution complaints to alcohol licensing and issuing permits for waste disposal. I enjoyed the wide variety of different council services I was able to learn about and the fast paced environment of local government where processes constantly changed. After having spent several years in this role I felt ready to do something different and gain some new experiences and skills.
The Chinese culture and China's natural beauty has always interested me ever since I watched travel documentaries with my parents as a child. I wanted to experience a different culture and see what life is like somewhere very different from home. Having completed an English language Degree and TEFL course I came across JESIE and was drawn to them because after researching widely, they seemed to be reputable and I was impressed by the videos of JESIE teachers lessons on YouTube. Since arriving here JESIE have been extremely helpful with their training and support and have ensured everything goes smoothly.
I am enjoying the challenge of teaching primary school children in China and hope to be able to keep improving my teaching skills and learning the Chinese language so that I can communicate with more people. My hobbies include running, playing golf, travelling, meditation and watching sports. China allows for me to carry on enjoying my hobbies in a different environment which I have quickly adjusted to. I enjoy the simple things in life and even though China is growing at an exciting pace, people still have a strong connection with nature, are very friendly and cook some of the tastiest food I have ever eaten.
