Hi I'm Kris, a new foreign English teacher for JESIE here in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. I'm basically English, but a quarter Norwegian, as my name betrays. My background in teaching is at the university level lecturing students, as well as assisting in laboratory classes and field trips, predominantly in Geological Sciences, in which my previous studies and qualifications lie. Needless to say, teaching primary school kids is quite a different experience, requiring different skills, and I am relishing learning so much every day, both from direct experience and from the incredible level of support and advice offered by my new colleagues.

I chose to pursue a potential career with JESIE after reading several testimonials from teachers who have worked for the organization, all of which were very positive. I have also lived in Nanjing for over two years in a previous incarnation as a palaeontologist, and love the city and this country, so when I heard about the opportunity to join the JESIE team and launch a new career path, I jumped at the chance. So far it is a decision that I do not regret, and I would recommend it to anyone who shows an interest in following a similar vein.
