Why did you choose JESIE?

I chose JESIE for several reasons. It had been recommended through a contact at my university who had had some workings with JESIE in the past and could vouch for their legitimacy. After talking with someone at JESIE over the phone and doing some research online, I ended up choosing JESIE because I liked the idea of living in Nanjing, they promised to handle my accommodations, and I liked that I was working for a government organization and not a private company.

What do you think about JESIE?

I think there are several upsides to going with JESIE especially if you are new to teaching or new to China like I was. The staff are helpful and there is a fantastic group of expats here who can help you in acclimating to life in China be it navigating the local area,  getting a cell phone or opening a bank account.

Do you enjoy your life as an employee of JESIE in China?

I enjoy my life here, but I dont know if it is for everyone.  JESIE helps where it can with the transition, but if you have not lived outside of a western country, it may prove to be an experience far removed from what you expect, and it would be worth your time taking to someone who has lived in China before you decide to come. On the professional side, I mostly interact with my school. JESIE can help you if there are problems, however I have been lucky to get along with my school contact and the staff there.

How is JESIE different from your previous employers?

This is my first time teaching so I do not know how much insight I can provide. I can say that if you are new to China there may be an adjustment to the working culture here. JESIE does try to accommodate cultural work differences, with mixed results, but to get a comparison between JESIE and other Chinese companies you would need to talk with someone who has worked for another company here in China.
