i) Why did you choose JESIE?

They had a good package deal; I didn't have to worry about accommodation or bills, the work hours seemed very reasonable and there was enough holiday time for me to travel. Also the location was fitting; Wuxi isnt a major city so its not as busy as somewhere like Shanghai, but also not far from Shanghai or Nanjing. 

ii) What do you think about JESIE?

On a whole, I think what JESIE is doing is very honorable: trying to make English more accessible to more students, not just the ones who can pay for it. Its a young organization so there are a few issues, also its very different from what Im used to. Due to the different cultures mainly, events arent set in stone till a couple days or weeks in advance which makes planning my time difficult.

iii) Do you enjoy your life as an employee of JESIE in China?

I really enjoy teaching at my school, I feel like Im making progress with my students conversational abilities, which is very rewarding. Living in China has its pros and cons, but generally Im glad I made the move here.

iv) How is JESIE different from your previous employers? 

They're much more involved in your life than other employers, mainly because they sort out accommodation for us. Again there is a difference in cultures, theres not much notice for events like there would be at home.When I arrived in China, JESIE were very helpful in getting me settled in my new home. Since the start of this new school year there have been a lot more issues that werent there before, due to the bigger intake of teachers and the overstretched administration staff.
