2016.5.5 - JESIE Open Day - XX
On Thursday, May 5th, 2016, JESIE visited two schools in Wuxi to spread the joy of learning English. Two teachers, Tom and Georgina, were carefully selected to represent the mighty team of JESIE educators.
Our first stop of the day was at the Shuofang Middle School in Wuxi’s New District where our teacher, Tom, knocked at the Junior 1 classroom door. The aim of his lesson was to teach cardinal points and locations. Tom drew the map of China on the board with the cardinal points and locations written in the relevant places around the border. The language point of his lesson was to elicit the correct responses to the following questions: “Where is Wuxi? Where is Urumqi? Where is Hohhot?” The lesson was delivered in a highly interactive format, with lots of movement and games. All kinds of activities - pair work, group work, whole class work - were utilized in his class. Students seemed to genuinely enjoy the time they spent with teacher Tom.
Our next stop was at the Shuofang Experimental Primary School where our second teacher, Georgina, sparkled her charm in the classroom packed with the Grade 4 students. Her lesson was all about sports. Right from the start, she got her students’ attention by asking a few questions about herself making them guess the correct answers. The ice was immediately broken, and the students were ready to learn and have fun! Georgina’s lesson was filled with lots of games and smiles. Games, tasks and activities raced, one after another, until they reached the point when students got so excited they could not sit quietly anymore! Can there possibly be a better way to show how much they appreciated this amazing day with JESIE teachers?
JESIE teachers yet again proved that learning English can be a fun and breathtaking experience! Go JESIE team!!!
