On Fri 8th April 2016, JESIE visited Fang Qian Primary School (Wuxi) to give a special lesson to the students there. The aim of the lesson was to teach the phrase 'what can you hear?' and vocabulary concerning the five senses. The session was given in a highly interactive game format, with the class being immediately divided into 2 teams. It was clear that the students were excited to meet the new foreign teacher and were keen to join in the fun activities.

To begin the session, a series of animal flashcards were shown to the students, with points awarded for correct identification and pronunciation of the displayed animals. Next, the students enjoyed watching a video of the animals and responding to sound-effects. The session ended with a fun 'bullseye' game to recap and reinforce the new language learned in the session.

This afternoon, JESIE visited No. 1 Girl's Middle School (Wuxi) to give a special lesson to the students there. The session covered the subject of 'prediction'. First, the students were introduced to the general idea, by being shown a picture of a fortune-teller who predicts the future. Along with this explanation, the verb 'will ' was drilled with the class i.e. 'I will', 'you will', 'he will'etc. Following this, flashcards showing a situation were given to each group of students in the class. In their groups, the students then discussed the situation shown and shared their predictions as to what might happen next with the rest of the class.

Continuing the idea of making predictions, in the next activity, each group was asked to guess the ending of a cartoon shown to them . The students enjoyed watching the cartoons and some of their predictions turned out to be quite accurate.
