2015.10.29 - JESIE Open Day - IV
October 29th was a fun day at the Wuxi No. 1 Girls' Middle School because it was a JESIE Open Day! Senior 1, Class 7 girls (all 40 of them!) were treated to a Halloween demo lesson about Halloween description words. Everyone was excited to learn a bit more about that exotic Western festival called All Hallows Eve. Impressively, all the students knew that it was Halloween this weekend.
The lesson started off with a visit to one of the most Halloween-y families ever, the Addams Family, when the students were introduced to the spooky crew and learned sing the theme song to the TV series. They sounded awesome, and some even added the finger-snapping effects! They mastered that and moved on to learn about the meaning of words such as creepy, spooky, and ooky (which really is a word, even if spell-check doesn't recognize it), and other words that can be used to describe favourite Halloween monsters.
So, after meeting the Addams, they met some of the Addams Family's friends, including witches, mummies, ghosts, vampires, werewolves, zombies and other fun creatures. (Perhaps Scooby Doo should have been invited? He and the Mystery Crew would have felt right at home) It was an amusing and educational period that, alas, ended too soon! As they say in Canada, "Halloween Apples!" and Halloween good wishes to the JESIE team.
