2015.09.25 - JESIE Open Day - I
On 2015 September 25, four foreign teachers arrived Wuxi for JESIE Open Day. It is always difficult to teach in a new environment, especially with younger children that you have not worked with before. However, the teachers did very well by bringing their positive energy to the classroom.
An excellent lesson with music was presented by the Academic Supervisor, which engaged the children and kept them involved. Chinese students are not used to being moved around in class, so the children were a little bewildered. However, the students were sufficiently engaged that they started to help move things around once they thought they understood what was required, instead of digging in their heels, which sometimes happens.
One of the bonuses of teaching English Language Learners how to sing songs in English is that they tend to sing with much better general pronunciation, word stress, sentence stress, and linking; as opposed to speaking the words normally.
